Programme Commentary

This month's report starts with another closure of a long-running piece of work - the decommissioning of our old Windows hosting service under project COM041. Getting the project completed is a testament to the persistent and patient work of the project team.

This leaves 3 current projects. One of them, COM046 (Wiki Upgrade) is progressing pretty much as planned, with a deployment to LIVE planned for the end of this month. This is obviously dependent on the successful completion of the user testing that is currently way, but no issues have yet been encountered.

The two other projects are intertwined, with COM045 awaiting the deployment to LIVE in COM043 before it can advance to Integration & Acceptance, However, reported issues with the latter project have impacted the progress of the IDM Database Upgrade project, and so both projects have had to report as Amber this month with these problems delaying progress. It is anticipated that a solution will soon be available (early June) and that both projects can therefore be replanned and get back on track. The project teams on both projects are to be commended for their resilience in managing these problems.

Finally, the JIRA Upgrade (COM047) will be initiated at the start of June with the arrival of Yiwei JIng (our student intern) who will be the PM on this one.

Achievements

During pre-go live testing we encountered issues with the SOA server config which has delayed our deployment to live (see Issue 8 for further info).
The project team are currently working on the issues and we have informed key stakeholders about the go live postponement.
We are working with Student Systems to identify a suitable go live date.

RAG Commentary: Issues have been encountered during pre-go live testing which have delayed our go live date in May. The delay is impacting the IDM Database Upgrade project (COM045) pushing it into 19/20. There is no student impact. The project team are currently working on the issues and expect to have them resolved by w/c 10 June.

Achievements in Last Period

No further progress on project during May due to waiting for the TEST environment to be released from COM043 SOA upgrade project.
Milestones have been replanned and project re-resourced from the next available COM043 deployment date communicated at the time which was 11/06/2019.

Issues

Continuing issues with COM043 have prevented progress with DEV sign off and with the migration to TEST on COM045. The project had been replanned and resourced to start after 11/06/2019. COM045 PM is waiting on confirmation that SOA will be deployed on 11/06/2019 before submitting the milestone changes to WIS, or to replan COM045 if a new deployment date is confirmed.
The project will carryover into 2019/20. Current estimate is 8.5 days
