Achievements in the last period

• Application Webservers
  • The deployment to the new Live Application Webservers  utilising the Load Balancers was completed on Wednesday 13th March as planned.  Whilst experiencing a number of unexpected issues, the decision was taken to proceed with agreed workarounds and resolve the matters at a later date
  • A new cluster environment was configured on the new Test Application webservers to run all the services and the testing of such services has been completed
• Database Servers
  • The new Database Servers have been built and handed over for testing

Issues

• Live Application WebServers (2016)
  • A number Issues and agreed workarounds were implemented resulting from the Go-Live
    • BedBooker - issues were encountered processing credit card transactions via the load balancer.  The workaround was to return the service to the old Application WebServers (2008)
    • Call Logging - it is not possible to run multiple instances of this service simultaneously. The workaround was to run this as a single service on the new Application WebServers (2016)
    • It was not appreciated that a re-direct was required for the decommissioned StudentHomes.  The workaround was to run this is as a single service via the old Application Webserver (2008)
• Test Database Application Servers (2016)
  • Initial issues regarding the database access for the back-end applications was encountered and is currently being investigated

RAG Commentary

The impact of resolving the unexpected technical issues encountered post go-live with the new Application Webservers, has delayed the preparation of the new Database Servers. The project is now running two weeks behind schedule and is unlikely to pull back any of that time.
