Overview

Background

The current systems for the Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) prospectus have remained static and undeveloped for a number of years.  Consequently basic information has either been added in an ad-hoc fashion (e.g. html in a single field) or omitted entirely.  The systems are no longer fit for purpose and are out of step with competitor activity.

If this project is not undertaken there are a number of risks the University must accept:

  • Damage to the University’s reputation
  • Significant negative impact on student recruitment and loss of revenue
  • University’s relative position in the market could be adversely affected.

Development of systems to include additional fields, relationships and outputs to bring the databases up to a minimum level to support the current requirements for information provision.

July 2013Complete enhancements and Integration of key university data and corresponding output templates into PG system

Note the following important changes from proposal.

1 The enhancements below have been restated after re-analysis of requirements by CAM's Ailsa and Business Analyst Sue. these replace original proposal enhancements for UG.

2 An UG Admin module wil be developed as part of the SSG002 Port of Applications project, and therefore no longer in scope of this project.

3 PG will also have to be reviewed as it is over 12 months since the proposal, and since then many have been delivered.

4 Any enhancements to the PG Admin module wil be part of SSG002 also.

5 Funding is capped at 100 days - PG requirements to be analysed must be within this budget. We will start on the project with UG and start PG analysis later.

Undergraduate Prospectus

•             Introducing alternate designs to reduce page length by grouping content into tabs and panels

•             Improving the existing search to return better and more focused results

•             Enhancing subject data – adding new fields

•             Enhancing programme page data – adding new fields and pulling information from parent subject and school

•             Enhancing content – highlighting calls to action, adding functionality, increasing cross-promotion, adding related links to wider prospectus content

•             Consolidating the navigation path into three levels (tabs should be clickable and take user to the appropriate page):

1. Degree finder introduction

2. Subject

3. Degree programme

•             Display of content is conditional on data, ie if there is no content in the fields for a tab, the tab should not display.

Plus carried over from Port

•             Bulk edit function

•             Adding new fields to database if cannot be done in Port (also inc above)

•             Adding new field to the Euclid A and Euclid B tables for ‘International Foundation’

•             Giving CAM ability to edit two databases at one time for part of the year
